We know that gratitude provides benefits–mentally, spiritually, and even physically.
We desire to become more thankful, to weave the attitude through the hours of each day.
But how?
Author Lysa Terkeurst provides this model:

Note the particular benefits she highlights: heightened awareness of God’s presence, and experiencing his powerful peace–each one well worth the effort of developing the habit of gratitude, yes?
So look around you in this moment. What can you be grateful for?
Let it be a reminder that God is with you, lavishing you with his love, faithfulness, and compassion.
Think on that knowledge, note the peace enveloping your heart, and enjoy a very happy day of Thanksgiving–today and always!

Happy thanksgiving Nancy ❤️
Thank you, Kathy! Our house was filled with the aroma of turkey and dressing, the sight of family and friends gathered close, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of hugs and caring conversation. I pray you enjoyed a day of delights also, Kathy!
Happy Thanksgiving, Nancy!
Thank you, Linda. We did enjoy a lovely day with family and friends around our table. I pray you experienced similar joy, no matter how you celebrated!
Being grateful is a choice. I’m taking it! Happy Thanksgiving, Nancy!
You’re a great example of a truly thankful person, Martha, demonstrated in post after post on your blog! Happy Thanks-living to you, my friend!
As Christians, our gratitude is based on God. Basing our gratitude on God makes it solid not just a self help strategy
Well said, Matt. Gratitude as a self-help strategy is only briefly and minimally effective compared to gratitude continually and heartily addressed to God!
You, too Nancy. Hope it was a great day.

Indeed it was, Gary. Thank you!
Nancy, I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and filled with family!
Indeed it was, Pam–on both counts. Eleven people sat at our table; many hands helped with prep and clean-up. I pray you also enjoyed a memorable day!
I have been focusing on my many blessings this Thanksgiving. First, my Salvation obtained by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Second, the fact that the Lord blessed me with my wonderful Mom who has always been my best friend, cheerleader, and advocate and who led me to accept Jesus as my Savior when I was five. She is 94 and is blessed with good health for her age. I realize how rare it is to be my age and still have my Mom; I don’t take it for granted at all. Third, my wonderful born-again friends (like you, Nancy) who have enhanced my life greatly. I continue to find new Christian friends on Facebook and other interactions as I journey through this life. Happy Thanksgiving, Nancy and Steve and family!
I’m thankful for you too, Cheri! It’s a special delight when friendships can span the decades of life. You’ve also been a strong encourager since Day One of this blog. Praise God for the mutual enhancement he’s brought to each of us through the other!
Thank you for this devotion on gratitude! So good! And so fitting for the season. 🙂
Thank you Katie and happy gratitude to you through Advent too!
Thank you so much! 🙂
Nancy, I’m grateful for your blog and for your faithfulness to so many readers. Thank you!
Oh, thank you Laurie. I’m grateful for your blog too. Doesn’t our mutual appreciation work out nicely! 😁
It’s easy to forget to pause and express our gratitude to God during the craziness of our daily lives. But if we’re always praying, it’s easier to remember! Thank you for your encouragement to adopt an “attitude of gratitude,” Nancy. 🙂
You’re welcome, Nancy. Happy gratitude to you during the Advent season!
Thanks! 🙂
